The statue has gone
For almost nine years, a life-size Unicorn Gundam stood on the Festival Plaza outside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza. It went up in September 2017 and ended its display on 31 August 2026. The last week, from 22 to 31 August, ran finale shows, and the farewell ceremony was on 29 August.
Nothing has replaced it. The official statue site confirms the end of the display and gives no successor for DiverCity. A separate nationwide “Gundam Landmark” idea has been mentioned, but with no location and no details, so it does not help you plan a trip.
This matters because many travel guides, blogs and even some ticket listings still print the old schedule: transformations at 11:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 17:00, then video shows on the wall behind the statue in the evening. None of that happens any more. If you arrive at the plaza expecting a giant robot, you will find an empty space.
If a guide you trust still lists those times, check when it was last updated. We keep a running list of what has closed in the area on the closed attractions page.
The Gundam Base Tokyo: still open, still free
The part of Odaiba that Gundam fans actually spend hours in is indoors. The Gundam Base Tokyo fills a large part of DiverCity’s 7th floor (about 600 tsubo) and is run by BANDAI SPIRITS, the Bandai Namco company that makes Gunpla. Entry is free, and opening hours follow the mall, normally 10:00–21:00.
The official store guide names four zones: SHOP (the Gunpla store itself, and the reason most people come), BUILDERS (a building area with a paint room), FACTORY and EVENT.
There is also a smaller Tokyo ANNEX on 2F of the same mall. If the 7F store is crowded, it is worth a look on your way out.
Getting in on busy days
On normal weekdays you just walk in. On weekends, public holidays and days when new kits go on sale, the store may switch to a web numbered-ticket system or a pre-entry lottery to control the crowd. The rules change with each release, so check the notice page on the official site the day before a weekend visit.
Who should go
Go if you build Gunpla, collect kits, or want a Gundam gift to take home. Allow an hour if you browse, much longer if you use the paint room.
Skip it if you only came for the statue. The store is a shop first; without the robot outside, casual visitors may find ten minutes enough.
Gundam Base is also opening new branches: Shibuya PARCO 5F from November 2026 and Osaka from February 2027. No closure has been announced for the Odaiba store.
Other things to do in DiverCity
DiverCity Tokyo Plaza has more than Gundam. These are the entertainment tenants worth knowing about:
- Unko Museum Tokyo (2F): a colourful photo museum about poop, built around rooms such as the Poop Volcano and the Dancing Poop Room. It is paid, with date-based prices, and children under 7 need an older companion. Full details on our Unko Museum page.
- Little Planet: Klook sells tickets for its DiverCity Tokyo Plaza location. Check the listing for age rules before you book, and see our Odaiba with kids guide.
- Round1 Stadium (6F): bowling, karaoke, an arcade and Spo-Cha, useful on a wet afternoon.
- Zepp DiverCity Tokyo: a concert hall, so check its schedule if you want a gig in the evening.

Shops are open weekdays 11:00–20:00 and weekends and holidays 10:00–21:00. Restaurants run to 22:00 and the food court to 21:00 or 22:00. For the other two malls, DECKS and Aqua City, see our Odaiba shopping malls guide.
DiverCity floor by floor
A quick map of the entertainment in the mall, so you can plan one visit:
| Floor | What’s there | Entry |
|---|---|---|
| 7F | The Gundam Base Tokyo | Free |
| 6F | Round1 Stadium | Paid |
| 2F | Unko Museum Tokyo · Gundam Base Tokyo ANNEX | Paid · Free |
| Outside | Festival Plaza (former Unicorn Gundam site) | No statue since 31 August 2026 |
If it is raining, DiverCity is an easy place to spend half a day without going outside. So is DECKS Tokyo Beach, which has Joypolis, LEGOLAND Discovery Center, Madame Tussauds and the Trick Art Museum under one roof.
If you came for the statue
A lot of people plan an Odaiba day around the giant robot and only find out on arrival that it has gone. If that is you, here is what we would do instead:
- Go up to 7F anyway. The Gundam Base is the one piece of Gundam that is still here, and it costs nothing to walk around.
- Watch the fountain instead of the robot. The Tokyo Aqua Symphony in Odaiba Marine Park is the new free show on the island. It opened on 28 March 2026, its jets reach about 150 metres, and the normal schedule runs 10 shows a day from 15:00 to 21:30. It is about 3 minutes from Daiba Station. See our Odaiba beach page for the times.
- Get the view from above. The Fuji TV sphere, Hachitama, is ¥800 for adults and closed on Mondays. Details on our Fuji TV sphere page.
- Plan a Gundam stop elsewhere later. If Gundam is the reason for your trip, the new Gundam Base in Shibuya PARCO is due to open in November 2026, and the Osaka branch in February 2027.
Getting there
DiverCity is at 1-1-10 Aomi, Koto-ku.
- Rinkai Line: Tokyo Teleport Station, about 3 minutes on foot. The station’s second name is “DiverCity Tokyo Plaza-mae”, so you are in the right place.
- Yurikamome: Daiba Station is about 5 minutes away, and Aomi Station also works.
If you are coming from Shinjuku or Shibuya, the Rinkai Line is the simpler route. From Shimbashi, take the Yurikamome. The getting there page has the full comparison.
How it fits into an Odaiba day
With the statue gone, DiverCity is no longer a place you time your day around. It works best as an indoor stop between the waterfront sights: morning at the beach or the Fuji TV sphere, an hour in the Gundam Base and lunch in the food court, then back out for the afternoon and evening fountain shows in Odaiba Marine Park.
For more tickets across the island, Klook’s Odaiba page groups the paid attractions in one place.
