Odaiba changes faster than the guides written about it. Most of the losses happened in and around Palette Town, the Aomi block that held the ferris wheel, Mega Web, Venus Fort and teamLab Borderless, and all of it closed between December 2021 and August 2022. Since then the Unicorn Gundam statue has gone, the Mizube Line water bus has stopped sailing, and Miraikan is closed for renovation from 1 October 2026 to 22 April 2027.
None of this makes Odaiba a bad day out. It means some searches lead to places that no longer exist. This page takes each one in turn.

The ferris wheel
The Palette Town Daikanransha, the giant ferris wheel in Aomi, carried its last passengers on 31 August 2022, the same day teamLab Borderless closed next door. If you searched for “ferris wheel odaiba”, “odaiba ferris wheel tickets” or “odaiba ferris wheel price”, the honest answer is that there is no ferris wheel in Odaiba any more. Any site still selling a ride on it is out of date.
The Palette Town site is now Toyota Arena Tokyo, which opened on 3 October 2025. It holds about 10,000 people and is home to Alvark Tokyo of the B.League, so you can go and watch basketball there, but you cannot ride anything.
What to do instead. For a view over the bay from above, go to the Fuji TV building near Daiba station. Its spherical observation room, Hachitama, is on the 25th floor and costs ¥800 for adults; it is closed on Mondays. For a view from the water, the Symphony cruises leave from Hinode Pier and pass under Rainbow Bridge. The sunset cruise gives you the evening skyline the wheel used to offer, with a meal on board.

Toyota MEGA WEB
Toyota’s MEGA WEB at Palette Town, the place behind searches for “toyota museum odaiba”, closed on 31 December 2021. Its land is part of the Toyota Arena Tokyo site. The arena is a sports and events venue, not a car museum.
What to do instead. If you wanted to sit in a car, the closest option on the island is City Circuit Tokyo Bay in Aomi, a fenced electric-kart circuit that opened in December 2023. No driving licence is needed; drivers must be at least 150 cm tall. Street go-kart tours through Odaiba are another option, but they need a 1949 Geneva Convention international driving permit; the go-kart page explains the licence rules. If what you really wanted was an indoor day of rides and simulators, Joypolis in DECKS Tokyo Beach is the nearest match: entry is ¥1,700, or ¥6,000 with the unlimited-ride Passport.

teamLab Borderless, the old “digital art museum”
Searches for “odaiba digital art museum”, “digital art museum odaiba” or “odaiba mori digital art museum” point to teamLab Borderless, which ran at Palette Town until 31 August 2022. It did not close for good. It reopened on 9 February 2024 at Azabudai Hills in Minato-ku (Garden Plaza B, B1), two minutes from exit 5 of Kamiyacho station on the Hibiya line. Adult tickets were ¥3,600 when we checked, with prices that vary by date. It is not in Odaiba, and it is not a short hop from there.
What to do instead, if you are in Odaiba. teamLab Planets is the teamLab museum on the bay. It sits in Toyosu, one minute from Shin-Toyosu station, near the end of the same Yurikamome line that serves Odaiba, and its run is announced through the end of 2027. It is a different work from Borderless: here you walk barefoot through water that can reach your knees. Most visitors combine it with Odaiba in one day.

VenusFort and Immersive Fort Tokyo
VenusFort, the indoor shopping mall at Palette Town, closed on 27 March 2022.
The building then got a second life. Immersive Fort Tokyo, an immersive-entertainment venue, opened there on 1 March 2024. Its closure was announced on 25 December 2025 and its last day was 28 February 2026. No plan for the building has been announced, so treat it as closed.
What to do instead. For shopping, DECKS Tokyo Beach, Aqua City and DiverCity Tokyo Plaza are all open; the shopping malls page says what is on each floor. For a themed interior, the Daiba 1-chome Shotengai inside DECKS recreates a Showa-era Japanese street. If you liked the idea of walking into a story, the Daiba Haunted School on the same floor is a flashlight walk through a cursed school for ¥900.
Oedo Onsen Monogatari
The hot-spring theme park Oedo Onsen Monogatari closed on 5 September 2021, when its fixed-term land lease ended. The buildings were demolished by March 2022, and the site is reported to be vacant with no new use announced. We have not found a hot spring on Odaiba island that we can recommend in its place.
The Unicorn Gundam statue
The life-size Unicorn Gundam statue outside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza ended its display on 31 August 2026, after almost nine years on show since September 2017. The closing ceremony was on 29 August 2026. No replacement has been announced for DiverCity’s Festival Plaza. Old show schedules for transformations and evening video shows are no longer valid.
What to do instead. The Gundam Base Tokyo on DiverCity 7F is still open and free to enter, with a model-kit shop, a paint room and event space. It can hand out numbered tickets when it is crowded. The Gundam Base page has the details.
Museum of Maritime Science
The ship-shaped main building of the Museum of Maritime Science is being demolished; the work began in February 2024. The annex and outdoor exhibits closed to the public on 28 January 2024. The station nearby changed its name too: Fune-no-kagakukan is now Tokyo International Cruise Terminal.
What’s still open. The Antarctic ship Soya is still there, and entry is reported as free. Hours are reported as 10:00–17:00, closed Mondays. See the museums hub for how it fits with other museums nearby.
Tokyo Mizube Line water bus
The Tokyo Mizube Line water bus has been suspended since 19 January 2026. A restart was hoped for around summer 2026, but none had been announced when we checked. Do not plan around it.
What to do instead. Tokyo Cruise, a separate company, still sails from Asakusa to Odaiba Seaside Park. The one-way fare is ¥2,000 for adults and ¥1,000 for children, and the trip takes about 50 to 65 minutes depending on the boat. There is also a short Hinode Pier to Odaiba route for ¥600. The getting there page compares boat and train.
Miraikan, closed for now
This one is temporary. Miraikan is closed for renovation from 1 October 2026 to 22 April 2027, with reopening planned for 23 April 2027. Do not buy a Miraikan ticket from any agent for a date inside that window. While it is closed, Small Worlds in Ariake is the nearest museum with a similar hands-on, look-closely appeal. The Miraikan page covers what to expect when it reopens.
Smaller losses you may still see listed
- Zepp Tokyo, the concert hall at Palette Town, closed on 1 January 2022. Zepp DiverCity Tokyo is still running.
- Cinema Mediage in Aqua City closed on 23 February 2017; United Cinemas replaced it that April.
- Tokyo Leisure Land at Palette Town is reported to have closed on 17 July 2017.
- ASIMO is not at Miraikan. Its demonstrations ended in March 2022.
How to spot an out-of-date Odaiba guide
A lot of Odaiba advice online was written before these closures and never revised. A few quick checks tell you whether a guide, blog post or ticket listing is current:
- It recommends the ferris wheel or Venus Fort. Both closed in 2022.
- It gives Unicorn Gundam transformation times. The statue left DiverCity on 31 August 2026.
- It places teamLab Borderless in Odaiba. Borderless is in Azabudai Hills; the teamLab museum near Odaiba is Planets, in Toyosu.
- It promises ASIMO at Miraikan. The demonstrations ended in March 2022.
- It sends you to “Fune-no-kagakukan” station. The station is now Tokyo International Cruise Terminal.
- It quotes old prices. Joypolis admission is now ¥1,700 and the Passport ¥6,000; the Hachitama observation room is ¥800.
- It says the Tokyo Subway Ticket covers Odaiba. It does not cover the Yurikamome or the Rinkai line, which are the two railways that serve the island.
If a ticket seller still lists one of the closed places, do not buy. For open attractions, the ticket cards on our pages link to products that are on sale, and each attraction page links the official site so you can check hours and closing days yourself.
What is new instead
The area has gained things too. The Tokyo Aqua Symphony fountain in Odaiba Marine Park opened on 28 March 2026. It is free, needs no booking, and runs several shows every afternoon and evening. Joypolis Sports X opened on DECKS 5F on 10 July 2026. For a day plan built around what is open now, see our one-day itinerary.
